I spend most of my time taking photos of people and the rest of my time collecting film cameras and taking photos of my hikes and travels. I’m a huge lover of the outdoors and adore integrating beautiful places into client sessions. I’m currently based on the Washington Coast and most of my sessions take place throughout the western side of the state but I’ve been lucky enough to photograph people in Oregon, California, Arizona, and even halfway across the globe in Switzerland!
I can remember playing with cameras ever since I was little and bringing disposables on family vacations. But it turned into a real hobby when I was a teenager and began documenting my hikes. By 2019 I’d found a love of working with other people to capture their special moments and turned it into my full time job.
Since then I’ve aimed to capture the nostalgia of personal moments and meaningful memories by turning sessions into enjoyable experiences for both my clients and myself. I love combining classic posing with free flowing movement and strive to always prioritize client comfort. Your photos should feel like YOU!
Photos are so much more than just posing for a camera. They’re about capturing the real feeling who you are. Whether you’re drawn to slow living or an adventurous lifestyle I’ll be right there with you to document it!
I’m currently based on the Washington coast where I grew up (this means I know all of the great coast locations!) but spent a few years living in Tacoma so I do about half of my sessions on the coast and half in the Tacoma/Seattle area. I’m willing to travel anywhere (yes, anywhere) to get photos special to you. Travel fees may apply pending conditions.
It depends on what you’re booking. I typically start accepting wedding and elopement bookings 8 months in advance. 3-6 months is my window for accepting standard session bookings. It never hurts to reach out about any type of session as soon as you know what date you would like to aim for; some months can be booked out far in advance, other times I'll have last minute openings. If you follow me on social media (Facebook and Instagram: @katiemcgregorphoto) you can stay up to date on when I’m booking what months!
When you book a session with me my goal is to make you look like your best self. This means I retouch temporary blemishes and small distractions in the photo. But I do not photoshop to drastically change your appearance because you're perfect the way you are! If I do my job right, you won’t even know it was done and will just be happy with how good you look.
This varies depending on what kind of session and how long you book for. But I do my best to deliver all of the good photos we got so you don’t miss out on any. The only exception to this is mini sessions and sales with a predetermined number of delivered edits.
For portrait sessions I deliver your full downloadable gallery within 3-4 weeks of the session date. Wedding and elopement galleries usually take 6-8 weeks. Once your photos are finished I will send you a link to your private gallery and instructions on how to download the photos at high resolution.
That’s okay! I love hiking and traveling so I know all of the best spots throughout the Western USA! I love helping clients find a location that both looks good in photos and fits their preferences. Just let me know where you’re located and I’ll provide a list of locations, within a reasonable distance, for you to choose from.
My editing is a large part of the value I provide as a photographer. RAW files don’t reflect my style or quality of work so I do not deliver them to clients.
I don’t believe there is objectively “bad” photo weather. But in the Pacific Northwest it’s a real possibility that your session won’t take place on a sunny day. I provide clear umbrellas for individuals and small groups to use for rainy day photoshoots. If the weather is looking awful to the point of discomfort, we will find a time to reschedule. But sun, fog, mild rain is all a go!
Your retainer payment is nonrefundable so cancelling is not encouraged. In case of illness or an emergency we can reschedule.
